MAC connects Global Crossing's Pan-American Crossing (PAC®), South American Crossing® (SAC®) and Atlantic Crossing-1 (AC1®) subsea systems to provide full connectivity between North America, Latin America and Europe. McKinsey sees blockchain technology reaching full potential in 5 years

McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm for governments and NGOs, recently submitted a blockchain Technology report to the US Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance. The firm analyzed how the technology may disrupt a range of industries, emphasizing banking and insurance, and predicts commercial deployment of blockchain technology at scale by the year 2021.

President Tsai Ing-wen met with former Speaker of the US House of Representatives Paul Ryan on the morning of April 15. She thanked former Speaker Ryan for his contributions to Taiwan-US relations during his tenure, and thanked the members of the US Senate and House of Representatives for their longstanding support for Taiwan. She expressed hope that ties between Taiwan and the United States will grow even closer, and that we can create a peaceful, stable, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific based on our strong cooperative partnership.  Taiwan is the US 11th largest trade partner. 

The Taiwan Relations Act, enacted by the United States Congress in April 1979, authorized continued “commercial, cultural, and other relations between the people of the United States and the people of Taiwan” in the wake of the U.S. decision to establish diplomatic ties with the People's Republic of China. The region has seen rapid growth over the past 15 years, but a number of trends could affect whether the economies continue to grow.

Over the past 15 years,1 the economies in Central America and the Caribbean (CAC) recorded an average annual GDP growth of around 4 percent, higher than the growth rates achieved by the Latin American average and most developed economies, but well below most other developing regions; regions such as South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa—and countries such as China or India—exhibited average annual growth of more than 5 percent during this period.
